Synopsis
A novel of terrible first impressions, hilarious second chances, and the joy in finding your perfect match.
Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.
And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . . especially when he calls in a favor she can’t refuse.

Why I love it
Katherine Center
Author, Hello Stranger
From the very first page of Yours Truly, I knew I was going to love it.
Put me in the Abby Jimenez fan club—because I could tell in a matter of sentences that I was in the hands of a writer who knew exactly what she was doing, and I could relax and just let her take me wherever we needed to go. And it was pure bliss.
I spent a sunny spring weekend gulping this story down on a blanket in the yard, and I fell madly in love with Briana and Jacob—two ER doctors who have been quite unlucky in love. At first, they seem destined to clash, but as life keeps throwing them together, they get the chance to look past first impressions. They feel like real people: flawed in some ways but so wise in others; getting it wrong sometimes, but trying like heck; good-hearted and earnest and lovable. They are both so complex, so in need of love healing, and so worth rooting for in all their struggles—it’s a delight to see how falling for each other inspires them to be brave in love.
This story did all the things to me that I’m always hoping stories will do: pulled me in, held me spellbound, made me care and laugh and worry and hope—activating all kinds of longing and then satisfying it all. Yours Truly brims with depth and feeling and insight, and it makes such a heartfelt case for why love matters. It was a joy to discover.
